About this book

In Schwante, dem kleinen Ort in der Nähe von Oranienburg im Nordwesten von Berlin gelegen, wurde am 7. Oktober 1989 Geschichte geschrieben. 45 Männer und Frauen gründeten die SDP, die Sozialdemokratische Partei in der DDR. Wir erinnern mit diesem Buch an die Gründung der Sozialdemokratie vor 35 Jahren in Schwante. Wir lassen drei Gründer zu Wort kommen, die mit dem Blick von heute über die damaligen Ereignisse und die daraus folgenden politischen Entwicklungen diskutieren. Dieses Buch ist damit auch ein Beitrag zu einer offenen und vielfältigen Diskussion über die Situation und Entwicklung im Osten Deutschlands. Entstanden ist das Buch aus der Arbeit der Historischen Kommission der SPD Brandenburg.
