The authors of this book, Elier Ramírez and Esteban Morales, analyze the experiences of the negotiations among EE.UU. and Cuba during the Gerald Ford and James Carter administrations. This research proves that Fidel Castro was seeking a modus vivendi among the two countries and, for this goal, inverted a lot of time in conversations with American politicians and journalists. The book introduces many interesting declassified documents about the interchange among politicians and interviews with the protagonists of these secret meetings. This second edition is prior to the December 17 and the re-establishment of the diplomatic relations, and the experiences exposed in it are very much to be considered in this process of the normalization.
