Edith Theresa Hedwing Stein (1891-1942) foi uma filósofa e teóloga alemã. De origem judia, converteu-se posteriormente ao catolicismo, tornando-se carmelita descalça. Morreu aos 51 anos, no campo de concentração de Auschwitz-Birkenau. Em 11 de outubro de 1998, foi canonizada pelo Papa João Paulo II como Santa Teresa Benedita da Cruz.
