About this book

Our first contact with Collaborative Law took place barely a decade ago, in 2015. The Departament de Justícia of the Generalitat de Catalunya commissioned us to conduct a study on the situation of mediation in Catalonia and on other possible alternative dispute resolution mechanisms—at that time the term still used was alternative and not appropriate—to address the fact that, despite the enthusiasm that mediation aroused in many forums, it was little used in practice. In sum, we sketched a cartography of ADR and incorporated an instrument of which we had previously had only distant references: Collaborative Law. We began to study it, to understand its principles and foundations, its development and its meteoric implementation.
