Este libro aborda todas las etapas y mecanismos implicados en el aprendizaje de las tareas de manipulación por parte de robots bimanuales en entornos no estructurados, ya que puede ser la tarea de doblar la ropa. La primera parte describe cómo construir un sistema integrado, capaz de manejar adecuadamente la cinemática y dinámica del robot a lo largo del proceso de aprendizaje. Propone mejoras prácticas a la cinemática inversa de circuito cerrado para robots redundantes, un procedimiento para colocar los dos brazos para maximizar la manipulabilidad del espacio de trabajo y un modelo dinámico junto con un observador de perturbaciones para lograr un control compatible y un comportamiento seguro del robot. En la segunda parte, se presentan métodos para el aprendizaje del movimiento de robots basados en primitivas de movimiento y algoritmos de búsqueda de políticas directas. Para mejorar la eficiencia del muestreo y acelerar el aprendizaje sin deteriorar la calidad de la solución, se proponen técnicas para la reducción de la dimensionalidad, para la explotación de muestras de bajo rendimiento y para la contextualización y adaptabilidad a situaciones cambiantes.
