About this book

'Murder is no joke in real life.' First published in 1930, and a classic example of the epistolary novel, The Documents in the Case is a thrilling detective tale, renowned for its skilful intellectual deduction, action and suspense. After the respectable George Harrison, a middle-aged mycologist, is unexpectedly found dead at his dining table with a plate of wild mushrooms before him, his passing is initially deemed a tragic accident. But Harrison's son, Paul, struggles to accept this verdict. As he begins to investigate further, it appears that this was no fatal mistake by an amateur forager, but something far more complex, calculating and ruthless. Through a series of letters, personal accounts and legal documents, Paul begins to unravel the chilling truth behind what happened. With Sayers's sharp prose and Eustace's medical insight, The Documents in the Case is a grippingly unique murder mystery that stays with you long after the last word. This audiobook edition is expertly read by Jonathan Oliver. Dorothy L. Sayers (1893 – 1957) was a British writer, poet and scholar, famed for her detective fiction featuring the iconic character of Lord Peter Wimsey. Sayers was one of the first women to graduate from Oxford, and subsequently became a master of the Golden Age mystery genre in her work. Robert Eustace (1868 – 1943) was the pen name of English doctor Eustace Robert Barton. Famed for his writing of mystery and crime fiction, his medical knowledge often informed his work, and resulted in a series of successful collaborations with other crime writers.
