## Who we are

EbooksDepository is a book discovery platform operated by **Publica.la**. Our website address is: <https://ebooksdepository.com>.

## What data we collect

EbooksDepository is a book discovery and comparison platform. We do not sell books directly, process payments, or create user accounts. The data we collect is limited to:

- **Analytics data**: anonymized page views, referral sources, and browser type to understand how visitors use our site. Page views carry a random visitor identifier, described under "Medición de uso del sitio" below.
- **Search queries**: searches performed on the site to improve our catalogue and search results.
- **Newsletter subscriptions**: if you voluntarily subscribe to our newsletter, we store your email address.

## Cookies

We use the following types of cookies:

- **Essential cookies**: required for the site to function (session, CSRF protection, language preference).
- **Analytics cookies**: to understand site usage patterns. These are anonymized and do not track individual users across sites.

## Recomendaciones de libros

To suggest books you might like, we keep a short list of the books you have viewed on this site — their titles, genres, authors and language — in your own browser's local storage. This list **stays on your device**: it is never sent to us, never linked to your name or email, and never shared with anyone else. Book suggestions are worked out in your browser, and older entries fade out over time.

You can erase it at any time, which resets your suggestions to a clean slate:

## Medición de uso del sitio

To understand whether visitors find what they came for, we measure which pages each browser views and for how long. For this we keep one more item in your browser's local storage: a random identifier (`ed_visitor_v1`) that **is sent to us** together with each page view. It contains nothing about you — no name, no email, no device details — and we use it only to group one browser's page views into a visit. If you are signed in, these page views are also associated with your account. These measurement records are deleted from our servers after 90 days.

The reset button above removes this identifier as well; a new, unrelated one is created on your next visit.

## Third-party services

We use the following third-party services:

- **Cloudflare**: CDN, security, and image optimization.
- **Meilisearch**: search functionality (queries are processed server-side).

When you click a link to purchase a book from a bookshop, you leave EbooksDepository and are subject to that bookshop's privacy policy.

## Data retention

Analytics data is retained for 26 months. Site-usage measurements (page views and time on page) are deleted after 90 days. Newsletter subscriptions are retained until you unsubscribe. The recommendation list described above lives only in your browser, so it is removed when you clear your browser data or press the reset button above.
