Evangelisch bleiben

In den Aushandlungsprozessen spätmoderner Gesellschaften wird es für die Kirchen immer schwieriger, sich mit christlichen Überzeugungen Gehör zu verschaffen und Orientierung zu geben. Dazu tragen auch Tendenzen in Theologie und Kirche bei, das eigene Profil im Interesse größtmöglicher Anschlussfähigkeit und Akzeptanz abzuschleifen. Die Aufsätze dieses Bandes sind demgegenüber von der Überzeugung getragen, dass evangelische Ethik die Fragen und Probleme der Zeit im Licht des biblischen Zeugnisses von Jesus Christus wahrzunehmen und zu beurteilen hat. Evangelisch bleiben heißt dann, sich in den Fragen von Leben und Umwelt, Ehe und Familie, Krieg und Flucht von dem Vertrauen leiten zu lassen, dass christliches Handeln unter dem Zuspruch und Anspruch des Wortes Gottes nicht vergeblich ist. This is also due to tendencies in theology and the church to file down the rough edges in the interest of maximising connectivity and acceptance. In contrast, the essays in this volume are based on the conviction that Protestant ethics must perceive and judge the questions and problems of our time in the light of the biblical testimony of Jesus Christ. Remaining Protestant then means being guided in questions of life and the environment, marriage and family, war and flight by the confidence that Christian action under the promise and claim of the Word of God is not in vain.
