Introduction to Cryogenic Engineering And Gas Applications

To the technologists/engineers, the challenges of the frigid world of absolute zero are numerous by comparison with a familiar situation. The objective of this book is to present an introduction to the technological/engineering aspects and challenges of cryogenics and cryogenics gases applications. The author has also discussed other developments e.g. gas separation processes based on PSA/VSA and membrane systems and how these processes can be integrated with the cryogenic systems. Besides chapters on liquefaction cycles, classical and tonnage air/gas separation plants (including LNG plants), a comprehensive review has also been made on other industrial gas plants e.g. acetylene, nitrous oxide, carbon dioxide, Sulphur dioxide etc. Also brief review has also been made on medical gases supply, pure gases production and special gases application in R/D fields. Emphasis is placed on the design and analysis of system to produce, utilize and maintain cryogenic and cryogenic gas application plants in Industry.  This book has been written as a text book for undergraduate students of engineering and technology and MSc course in Physics.
