He has more than a decade of experience in teaching. He did his graduation and post graduation in Metallurgical Engineering at Karnataka Regional Engineering College, Surathkal. He obtained his Ph.D in 1984 from Indian Institute to Technology, Madras. He has presented several research papers in various conferences and authored two text books on Engineering Materials Science and Principles of Engineering Metallurgy. He is a member of Institution of Engineers (India), Institute of Indian Foundrymen and Indian Society for Technical Education.
