Currently, he is the Vice-Chancellor of KLE University, Belgaum which has been accredited with 'A' Grade by NAAC. He is the first pharmacist in the country to become Vice-Chancellor of an Indian University, Vice-Chancellor of a University of Health Sciences, Hon. Fellow of Indian Society of Technical Education (ISTE), Chairman of Recruitment Board of RAC for DRDO Laboratories, Hon. Colonel Commandant of Ministry of Defence, Chairman of the Regional Committee of AICTE and Chairman of Peer Team of NAAC.Prof. Kokate served as President, Pharmacy Council of India and Indian Pharmaceutical Association and Indian Society of Pharmacognosy.
