Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF)

The fight against climate change and the transition to sustainable production models mainly concern the transport sector, and in particular pose decisive challenges for air transport. The authors explore the role of Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) as a strategic lever for the decarbonization of civil aviation, framing them within the principles of the Circular Economy and Life Cycle Thinking (LCT). Through an interdisciplinary approach, they analyze the state of the art, future prospects, and technological, regulatory, and economic barriers related to SAF, highlighting the contribution of public policies and international cooperation.
