Our commitment

EbooksDepository is a book discovery platform operated by Publica.la. We want everyone to be able to find their next book here, regardless of ability or the technology they use. We are committed to making this website accessible in accordance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 and the European Accessibility Act.

Conformance status

This website conforms to WCAG 2.2 Level AA. This conformance claim covers all pages under https://ebooksdepository.com, except for the third-party content described under Known limitations below, which is outside our control.

What we do for accessibility

  • Keyboard navigation: every feature of the site — search, filters, menus, carousels — can be operated with a keyboard alone, with visible focus indicators throughout.
  • Screen reader support: semantic HTML landmarks, descriptive headings, alt text on images, and ARIA attributes where native semantics are not enough.
  • Color and contrast: text and interactive elements meet or exceed WCAG 2.2 AA contrast ratios, and color is never the only means of conveying information.
  • Resizable text and reflow: content remains usable at 200% zoom and reflows for small screens without horizontal scrolling.
  • Reduced motion: animations respect the prefers-reduced-motion setting.
  • Consistent structure: navigation, search, and page structure stay consistent across the site, with a skip link to the main content on every page.

How we evaluate

Conformance is self-assessed through a combination of automated accessibility testing and manual evaluation, including keyboard-only navigation and screen reader testing. Accessibility checks are part of our development workflow, and every significant change to the site is reviewed against WCAG 2.2 AA before release.

Known limitations

Despite our best efforts, some content may have limitations:

  • Book covers and descriptions: cover images and publication descriptions are supplied by publishers and stores. We provide alternative text for covers based on the book's title, but the visual content of third-party covers is outside our control.
  • External bookshops: when you follow a link to buy a book, you leave EbooksDepository, and the destination site's accessibility is outside our control.
