Sobre este libro

Basic quantum chemistry provides a coherent and structured approach in introducing the concept of 'quantum' to the students of quantum mechanics. An attempt is made to bring out the subtleties of quantum mechanics, hidden in its abstract laws and equations, applicable to the atomic domain by showing its relevance to the observable macroscopic world as well. This is nothing but providing “QUANTUM INSIGHT” into the nature of reality to enable one to think about the universe in a different perspective. The book helps the reader to dispel the stigma associated with quantum mechanics. The emphasis on conceptual approach provides a platform to stand on, and a stimulus to pursue higher quantum mechanics, the doorway to the all-pervasive quantum world.
Contents:
1. Historical Background2. The Wave Equation3. The Postulates4. Applications of Schrödinger Equation-1 (Simple systems with constant potential energy)5. Applications of Schrödinger Equation-2 (Simple Systems with Variable Potential Energy)6. Approximation Methods7. Bonding in Molecules8. Appendix
About the Author:
M. S. Prasada Rao was the Professor of Inorganic Chemistry, Andhra University, Visakhapatnam. As a committed and dedicated teacher, he inspired and motivated thousands of students to realize their true potential to succeed in their careers. He has to his credit a number of orbital, crystal and electronic models developed for teaching chemical principles and theories. He was the Best Teacher awardee of the Government of Andhra Pradesh. His belief in the fact that in the modern world, no subject can be studied and no problem can be investigated in isolation without reference to the other disciplines, made him encourage his research students to adopt to cross-functional approach. This approach resulted in publications of repute in different fields of chemistry, biology, medicine, education and computer modelling. He is the former Registrar of Andhra University and former Vice-chancellor of Gitam deemed to be University, Visakhapatnam. He was also associated with academic administration of the university in different capacities.
