Although several books on nanoscience and nanotechnology are available in the market, most of them deal with the research-level areas, whereas a few of them deal with the fundamentals of the subject. However, every effort is made by the authors of this book to cover all the topics needed for a beginner. Some of the important topics covered in this book are preparation, properties along with the applications of the materials. Nanotechnology is a multidisciplinary subject representing the convergence of various subjects. Therefore, explaining the subject is a big task and needs a proper approach so that the students may not be distracted. Sc., and Ph.D from Osmania University, joined the same University as a faculty member. In 2002, he was made Principal, P.G. College of Science, Saifabad, and was there in that position for 3 years. Later, he was appointed as a Director, of the Alumni Association of Osmania University and completed the four years term in 2010. In 2009, Prof. Reddy joined a reputed private engineering college, VidyaJyothi Institute of Technology, as a Professor of Physics and Principal. Subsequently, he was made Director of the college. During his 12 years of stay at this college, he completed two 51.00 Lakhs DRDO-sponsored research projects. His research fields include ferrites, metallic glasses, High Tc superconductors, Dilute Magnetic Semiconductors, Manganites, Multiferroics, shape memory compounds, Abintio computational work, etc., During the entire research career of Prof. Reddy, he not only completed 15 research projects sponsored by UGC, DST, DRDO, etc. Also, 18 students were awarded Ph. Ds under his supervision. The work of another two students is in an advanced stage of completion. Furthermore, he has published more than 200 research papers in International & peer-reviewed Journals of repute. His work also yielded three patents. To present his work, he has visited the USA, China, Japan, Italy, France, the U.K, Australia, and Malaysia. He was also acted as a visiting Professor at the University of Maryland at Baltimore County, USA, University of Technology, Mara, Kula Lumpur, Malaysia, and Shangai University, Shangai, China. Prof. Reddy was elected as a Fellow of the Ultrasonic Society of India, and as a Fellow of the A.P. Academy of Sciences. Subsequently, in 2016 Prof. Reddy also became a founder member of the Telangana Academy of Sciences. M. Lakshmi is an assistant professor at the Department of Physics, Vidya Jyothi Institute of Technology, Hyderabad. She received Ph. D degree in Physics from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Anantapur. She joined technical institutions in 2007 from then onwards she teaches undergraduate students in engineering and technology. She has published many research papers in reputed International journals and has attended National and International Conferences. Her research interests include Nanoscience and Nanotechnology and other related materials.
