Nationalsozialismus im Schulgeschichtsbuch

Der Band setzt sich intensiv mit einer bislang kaum beachteten »Diskursarena« der Gestaltung von Schulbüchern auseinander: dem Zulassungsverfahren. Untersucht werden u.a. die Akten von über sechzig Zulassungsverfahren in Bayern sowie Schulgeschichtsbücher, die von 1949 bis in die 1970er Jahre erschienen sind. Der Autor arbeitet die institutionellen Verhältnisse und normativen Bedingungen im Hinblick auf die historische Deutungsmacht sowie die Interessen von Verlag und Ministerium bei der Strukturierung der Verfahren heraus. Auch die zeitgenössischen fachlichen Überzeugungen und thematischen Konfliktlinien zum Nationalsozialismus werden erörtert. Es zeigt sich eine normierende Funktion der jeweiligen Zulassungsverfahren, deren gleichzeitige Kontingenz durch den hohen Einfluss der Gutachter bestimmt war, die als »Torhüter« offizieller Geschichtskultur mit Autoren und Verlagen um historische Deutungen rangen. This book discusses a black blox within the design process of history textbooks: the admission procedure. For this purpose, the author analyzes biographicals sources of relevant actors and over sixty admission procedures in Bavaria as well as history textbooks, published between 1949 and the 1970s. The negotiation of historical culture regarding national socialism is the thematic reference point of the book. The author illustrates, how institutional, normative and personnel conditions, influenced the hegemonic historical culture within textbooks. It shows, that the outcome of most approval procedures harmonized historical culture. However, the approvals itself were quite randomized. This situation was caused by the way, the reviewers were chosen, because most of these only approved one or two textbooks. Nevertheless, the reviewers functioned as "goalkeepers" to an official historical culture. For this very reason, admission procedures were battlegrounds for the fight about the interpretative dominance regarding national socialism.
