The goal of behavioral nutrition is to help people develop healthy eating habits and achieve and maintain a healthy weight. This can be achieved through behavior change techniques such as self-monitoring , goal setting and self-reflection. Behavioral nutrition is a multidisciplinary approach that involves collaboration between nutritionists, psychologists and other health professionals to help people change their eating habits. Dietitians can work with psychologists to understand and address underlying behavioral issues that may be preventing a person from achieving and maintaining healthy eating habits. Behavioral nutrition can be used to help people with a variety of weight-related problems, including obesity, eating disorders, and weight-related mental health issues. This may include helping people deal with binge eating, learning to recognize their eating needs, discovering what prevents them from following a healthy diet, and finding ways to change their eating behaviors.
