Nowadays, digital communication decisively shapes the professional image of the historian. What was still the exception 20 years ago is the norm today: Historical worlds are measured digitally and interpreted analogically. Digitalisation is changing the way historians think, teach and write, even today and is having a retroactive effect on the writing of history. Today, historians process large amounts of data with algorithms which make completely new perspectives and approaches to historical sources possible. The book describes the state of digital transformation for history as part of the humanities and discussed the perspectives on the future of the big data in the historical sciences. A service part complements this book, in which infrastructure, portals, tools, standards and blogs are presented.
